DUBLIN — Allergan announced Wednesday that it had launched a new OTC artificial tear called Refresh Optive Gel Drops for patients who need a thicker artificial tear for dry eye relief. The gel, available in 10-mL bottles, uses glycerin and CMC to bind to the eye for longer-lasting relief.
“With Refresh Optive Gel Drops, eye care providers now have an even more comprehensive line of artificial tear types to offer to their patients with individual needs,” Joseph Vehige, Allergan’s VP consumer eye care research and development, said. “Leveraging the latest technology from Optive, the new multi-dose Gel Drops help dry eye patients find comfort any time, day or night.”
The drops are part of Allergan’s Refresh America initiative to provide American first responders with free eye drops. For every package purchased, Allergan will donate a product, up to a $250,000 value.
