WHIPPANY, N.J. - Bayer on Thursday announced that Raymond Kerins Jr., SVP communications, government relations and policy, has been elected to the board of directors of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the world's largest business organization.

Kerins, who joined Bayer in 2013 after serving in senior executive positions at Pfizer and Merck, is a veteran communications and government relations professional with more than 20 years of experience in helping global multinational corporations improve their financial performance and overall corporate reputation. Kerins will work closely with his fellow directors on the Chamber board to advocate for pro-business policies.

"I am honored to join the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and look forward to actively engaging stakeholders all around the world," Kerins said. "The Chamber has a long and storied history of serving as the voice for business in the United States and abroad. We must continue that great work by engaging Americans and educating policymakers on how best to keep America's economy growing."

Kerins also serves as a board member of the Chamber's Global Intellectual Property Center and Chairman of one of GIPC's Engagement Task Forces.
