Berg named GNC's COO

PITTSBURGH A global specialty retailer of nutritional products has appointed a new COO.

GNC said Wednesday that David Berg, former EVP global business development and COO for its international operations, would become the company's COO. In his new role, Berg will continue to directly report to GNC's CEO Joe Fortunato.

Prior to joining GNC, Berg was the EVP and COO for Best Buy from 2008 to 2009, after earlier serving as a VP and SVP for Best Buy from 2002 to 2008.

"David has already proven to be an excellent addition to the GNC senior management team, and we are confident that he will bring added value to our organization in his new role as GNC's COO," Fortunato said.
