Carex introduces four new assisted-living products

12/9/2011

NORWELL, Mass. — Carex Health Brands recently launched four new products — the Carex Mobilator, the Carex Self Standing Cane Tip, the Carex E-Z Bath & Shower Seat and the Bathroom Safety Rail — across its portfolio of durable medical equipment and life assistance offerings.

The Carex Mobilator is a highly maneuverable four-wheeled rolling walker with a carrying compartment suited for indoor and outdoor use. The Mobilator features a lightweight aluminum frame, a detachable tray, oversized 8-in. wheels and a convenient brake bar for safety, which is suitable for one handed use. In addition, the new walker folds for easy storage and transport.

The Mobilator also has a mesh carry compartment to store personal items and sells at a suggested retail price of $162.99.

The new Carex Self Standing Cane Tip enables a cane to stand by itself. With a four-pronged tip, the self-standing cane tip provides traction, absorbs shock and cushions the user’s hand, Carex reported. Suggested retail price is $12.99.

The Carex E-Z Bath & Shower Seat provides support for people in the bathtub or shower with non-slip feet and large, secure handles to assist users in getting up or sitting down. The Carex EZ Bath & Shower Seat supports up to 300 lbs. For convenient storage, the seat back folds flat and the legs can be removed.

The introduction of the E-Z Bath & Shower Seat coincides with a heightened demand among independent seniors for quality safety and mobility products. The Center for Disease Control reports that approximately 5.8 million persons ages 65 years or older, fell at least once during the preceding 3 months, and 31.3% of those who fell sustained an injury that resulted in restricted activity. The majority of senior falls occur in the bathroom.

The E-Z Bath & Shower Seat is the latest addition to a growing line of bathroom safety products from Carex that includes transfer benches, safety rails, grab bars, deluxe shower sprays, bath mats and raised toilet seats. The product will retail for a suggested $65.99.

Carex also introduced a Bathroom Safety Rail. According to the company, currently 9.5% of seniors experience bathing challenges. This safety rail fits perfectly around the toilet, providing essential support for transfer and additional support when standing at the toilet. For extra security, the safety rail can be placed in front of bathroom and kitchen sinks to ensure maximum balance.

The Bathroom Safety Rail will be available January 2012 online and at select retailers at a suggested retail price of $69.99.
