CRN announces next free webinar for pharmacists and nurse practitioners

11/25/2014

WASHINGTON — The Council for Responsible Nutrition on Monday announced the next in its series of free webinars for pharmacists and nurse practitioners, presented in partnership with Skipta, a closed-loop social networking platform for health care professionals.

These webinars, available to members of the Pharmacist Society and Generation NP communities, are part of CRN’s ongoing efforts to reach healthcare professionals with science-based information about dietary supplements that they can use in their practices.

The upcoming one-hour webinar, “Practical Practice Tips for Widely-Used Dietary Supplements,” will take place Tuesday, Dec. 9, at noon Eastern and will feature CRN’s science team. As a naturopathic doctor who sees patients part-time in a clinical practice, CRN’s SVP scientific and regulatory affairs, Duffy MacKay, has scientific knowledge as well as hands-on experience in integrative wellness, addressing similar questions that pharmacists and nurse practitioners might receive when working with their customers and patients who have an interest in integrating supplements into their wellness regimens. CRN’s Jim Griffiths, VP scientific and international affairs, and Andrea Wong, VP scientific and regulatory affairs, will add to the discussion of “need-to-know” facts about 10 dietary supplement categories that pharmacists and nurse practitioners may encounter in their work.

"More than 150 million Americans take dietary supplements each year, making it likely that pharmacists and nurse practitioners are working with clients that are taking supplements," MacKay noted. "The CRN/Skipta webinar is a great opportunity for practitioners to expand their knowledge in an hour’s time to better inform their customers and patients.”

A question and answer segment will follow CRN’s presentation. The webinar will also be available on demand following the live event. For more information, see: CRNUSA.org/Skipta.
