CVS/pharmacy bolsters exclusive brands with new Hospital Series wound-care line

5/13/2015

WOONSOCKET, R.I. — CVS/pharmacy has announced the launch of its new exclusive Hospital Series wound care products, the latest addition to the growing family of exclusive CVS/pharmacy store brand product lines.

Previously, these types of wound care options were only available at hospitals and select specialty medical stores; however, with the launch of this line, CVS/pharmacy is the exclusive retailer now offering these products directly to consumers nationwide.

Enhanced by Safetac technology adhesive, CVS/pharmacy Hospital Series wound care dressings, bandages and scar treatments are designed to reduce both the pain and tissue damage associated with wound management. This means the bandages can be removed with less risk of damaging the wound or the surrounding skin. Whether used for chronic or acute wounds, like post-op or diabetic wounds, these products can decrease pain during dressing changes by reducing the likelihood of maceration, blistering and skin stripping.

“We’ve partnered with Mölnlycke Health Care, the world-leading provider of single-use surgical and wound care products, to bring affordability and convenience to our customers needing advanced wound care,” stated Cia Tucci, VP of store brands for CVS/pharmacy. “Through the launch of this exclusive line, we’re making it easier for millions of patients to have access to high-quality wound care solutions during healing, right in their own homes. This is a perfect complement to our corporate mission of helping our customers on their path to better health, and we are proud to be the first national retailer to offer these options.”

The CVS/pharmacy Hosptial Series wound care line contains three primary types of products:

  • Mepilex Border Lite Foam Adhesive Dressings: Very thin, comformable, self-adherent, all-in-one dressings. These dressings create a barrier to keep moisture and bacteria out.

  • Mepiform Scar Treatment Dressings: Self-adherent, comfortable, flexible dressings designed for managing hypertrophic and keloid scars. Thin and discreet, these dressings can be worn during regular daily activities and are clinically proven to flatten, soften and fade both new and old scar tissue.

  • Mepitel Film Skin Protectant Dressings: Conform to the wearer’s body and provide a flexible, breathable covering that protects the skin or wound from outside moisture and bacteria. Transparent for easy inspection, these dressings also limit the risk for damage to newly formed tissue. Mepitel Film provides instant tack adhesion that minimizes the requirement of extra pressure to fixate well.

The line is available in-store and online now, with prices starting at $9.99
