Europa Sports Products to distribute Mission Pharmacal's Compete energy bites

11/10/2014

SAN ANTONIO — Mission Pharmacal Company and Europa Sports Products of Charlotte, N.C., last week signed an agreement effective as of Sept. 17 for Europa to distribute Mission's Compete energy bites to fitness centers and select other retail outlets nationally.

This dietary supplement provides 135 mg of caffeine, or the equivalent of a 12-oz. cup of premium coffee, and contains 45 calories per serving.

"We are excited about the opportunities the agreement with Europa provides to make this innovative, high-quality product readily available to fitness enthusiasts for fueling workouts," said Derek Huddleston, senior director, performance solutions and diversified products, Mission Pharmacal. "Compete energy bites also can provide a quick energy boost for recreational sports activities, night shift work or a long-haul drive."

Europa is one of the nation's largest sports supplements wholesale distributors. The company provides supplements for gyms and retail health food stores.

Compete energy bites were successfully test marketed in leading fitness centers and health clubs, including Bally Total Fitness, Crunch Fitness and XSport Fitness facilities, in New York, Los Angeles and Chicago during the second half of 2013 and early 2014. More than 100 facilities already offer Compete in these three test markets, and additional outlets and markets are being added quickly through the agreement with Europa.

Compete energy bites have been developed and introduced by West Dakota, Mission's marketing partner in the United States.

While the United States is the current area of focus for Compete energy bites, Mission Pharmacal is committed to broadening this footprint and also seeks international partnership opportunities. This is evidenced by a successful United Kingdom pilot and current product rollout for Compete energy bites and a recent distribution agreement between Mission and West Dakota, U.K., to further expand in the United Kingdom.
