Flu incidence on the rise along the coasts

DEERFIELD, Ill. — Flu incidence has spread from the central United States and picked up across the West between Jan. 12 and Jan. 19, according to the latest Walgreens Flu Index report. Flu incidence is on the rise across the Northeast, too. 


 


The top 10 flu activity gains in designated market areas as measured by Walgreens Boots Alliance include:


 



  1. El Paso, Texas (Las Cruces, N.M.);


  2. San Antonio;


  3. Las Vegas;


  4. San Diego;


  5. San Francisco-Oakland-San Jose, Calif.;


  6. Phoenix (Prescott), Ariz.;


  7. Los Angeles;


  8. Seattle-Tacoma, Wash.;


  9. Boston (Manchester, N.H.); and


  10. New York.



The top 10 flu activity gains for the period by states are


 



  1. Nevada;


  2. New Jersey;


  3. Arizona;


  4. California;


  5. New Mexico;


  6. Connecticut;


  7. New Hampshire;


  8. Washington;


  9. Massachusetts; and


  10. Rhode Island. 



The top 10 markets as measured by current flu activity for the week beginning Jan. 19 are:


 



  1. Oklahoma City, Okla.;


  2. San Antonio;


  3. Knoxville, Tenn.;


  4. El Paso, Texas (Las Cruces, N.M.);


  5. Tulsa, Okla.;


  6. Ft. Smith-Fayetteville-Springdale-Rogers, Ark.;


  7. Austin, Texas;


  8. Little Rock-Pine Bluff, Texas;


  9. Omaha, Neb.; and


  10. Dallas – Ft. Worth, Texas. 



The top 10 states as measured by current flu activity for the week beginning Jan. 19 are:
