Garden of Life gets Non-GMO Project verification for probiotics line

PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. — Probiotics brand Garden of Life has announced that its line of Dr. Formulated probiotics has been Non-GMO Project Verified. The company said the seal that it now adds to its boxes underscores its support of GMO-free crops.

"Chemicals such as glyphosate, used in the farming of genetically modified crops, are toxic to healthy bacteria,” Garden of Life Dr. Formulated product line creator Dr. David Perlmutter said. “While we don't know the long-term effects of genetic modification on our health, we do know that heavy loads of these toxic chemicals can harm our human microbiome, and that is why it's so important to look for products that have been verified non-GMO. I'm proud that the entire line of Dr. Formulated probiotics has become Non-GMO Project Verified."

The line of products, introduced in 2015, includes probiotics for men and women’s health, a once-daily, a once-daily ultra formulation, a once-daily prenatal, an organic kid’s probiotic, as well as formulations that work to help with mood, prostate health and urinary tract health, among others. According to SPINS data for the week ended March 19, the line of Dr. Formulated probiotics is the fastest-growing line in the natural channel.
