Growing interest in connected health tech to enable aging-in-place, Parks Associates says

8/28/2017

DALLAS — New digital health research from international firm Parks Associates shows that three-fourths of consumers 40 years and older expect to live in their own home when they turn 80, which will drive adoption and innovation in aging-in-place solutions. Parks Associates is presenting at the fourth-annual Connected Health Summit: Engaging Consumers in San Diego on the role of connected health technologies and smart home crossover use cases to enable aging-in-place and independent living for current and future generations.

"Since its inception, the Connected Health Summit has focused on data-driven, consumer-centric patient experience and engagement, offering consumer research and industry insight to guide industry players through the connected healthcare revolution and the resulting consumerization of healthcare," stated Elizabeth Parks, SVP Parks Associates.

According to Parks Associates' "360 View: Empowering Healthcare Consumers," more than 40% of U.S. broadband households own at least one connected health device, while approximately one-third of consumers either use a wellness app or participate in a wellness program.

"Our greying generation is embracing aging and retirement with high expectations, and home is their preferred place to enjoy this aging journey," added Harry Wang, senior research director, Parks Associates. "Translating this expectation into affordable, smart and healthy home living experiences requires collaborations from multiple industry sectors that include healthcare, insurance and smart home."
