PARSIPPANY, N.J. — GlaxoSmithKline on Wednesday officially launched its Flonase allergy relief onto nonprescription shelves, bringing allergy relievers a new and unique formulation to help combat their allergies.
Flonase Allergy Relief works to block six key inflammatory mediators, not just histamine, the company noted. In addition to histamine, Flonase helps block cytokines, leukotrienes, chemokines, prostaglandins and tryptases. Along with addressing six allergy triggers, Flonase Allergy Relief is the first and only OTC intranasal corticosteroid indicated to relieve nasal allergy symptoms and itchy, watery eyes, GSK noted.
"I just want to give people a solution that they haven't been able to find," said Jason Andree, brand manager, GSK Consumer Healthcare North America, on a YouTube video heralding the product's launch. "Knowing how bad allergies affect someone's everyday life, I want to hear from a consumer and hear them say: 'I now can deal with my allergies.'"
