COTTAGE GROVE, Wis. — Johnson Health Tech on Wednesday introduced a new line of fitness equipment equipped with ViaFit, a wireless connectivity system that enables the machine to share workout data with popular fitness apps, tracking devices and social communities. Unlike other cardio equipment tracking software, ViaFit gives users the option to use the included workout tracking tools or connect to multiple third party apps and communities, including: FitBit, MyFitnessPal, Facebook, BodyMedia, MapMyFitness, Carepass, RunKeeper and Jawbone among others.

"ViaFit allows people to effortlessly transition from indoor to outdoor exercise activities without disrupting their fitness tracking methods," said Andrew Kolman, director console technology at Johnson Health Tech. "This new technology automatically does the tracking for you, simplifying the process and making it easier to reach your fitness goals."

ViaFit is not a paid service or temporary trial. The technology comes standard on a variety of Vision Fitness and Horizon Fitness cardio equipment, including treadmills, elliptical trainers and exercise bikes.

Out of the box, ViaFit connects with any standard home Wi-Fi network. Once a connection is established, users are prompted to set up a free ViaFit account online at ViaFitness.com. A personal ViaFit account allows users to track their fitness progress on ViaFit's website or other preferred third-party tracking programs. Important stats like time, calories, distance and heart rate are recorded and seamlessly shared across multiple platforms and stored in one main hub, eliminating the need for multiple tracking programs.

"We developed ViaFit because we saw the proven value of wellness tracking and wanted to make it easier for people to reach their health and fitness goals," said Nathan Pyles, president of Johnson Health Tech. "ViaFit offers a more holistic and effective experience by seamlessly connecting the exercise and nutrition tracking methods people are already using to their fitness equipment."

The technology will be available exclusively on select Vision and Horizon treadmills, elliptical trainers and exercise bikes beginning in November at specialty retailers and online.
