BRIDGEWATER, N.J. -- Matrixx Initiatives announced Monday the launch of Zicam Cold Remedy Ultra Berry Lemonade Crystals, the latest addition to Zicam's cold shortening line-up.
The new product combines the power of zinc, which reduces the duration of the common cold, and elderberry, a popular immunity boosting ingredient.
"Consumers rely on Zicam Cold Remedy for form and flavor innovation," stated Lori Norian, VP marketing at Zicam. "Whether it's our exclusive, patented nasal swabs or our unique Ultra Berry Lemonade Crystals, we strive to satisfy a wide range of consumer preferences. It's how we've built the brand to be No. 1 in sales in the homeopathic cold shortening space."
"Everyone today is busy and has better things to do than put up with a cold longer than necessary," added M'lou Walker, CEO Matrixx. "We wanted to introduce a cold shortening product that would be convenient for an on-the-go lifestyle. Whether you're heading out on vacation with family or accomplishing daily responsibilities, Zicam Ultra Berry Lemonade Crystals are designed to help you get back to what really matters."
According to a recent study by Wakefield Research and Zicam, 82% of U.S. travelers have been hit by "leisure sickness," a phenomenon where you get sick while on vacation. As you gear up for holiday travel season, the last thing you want to deal with is a lingering cold.
Oftentimes, the trip itself can put you at higher risk for getting sick. More than half (51%) of those who have been "leisure sick" say they caught a cold on a trip because they were not getting enough sleep, 28% blame their significant other and 28% cite trip planning stress.
Still, one in three U.S. travelers wouldn't cancel a trip even if they had cold symptoms like a sore throat, congestion or coughing.
