Mobile platform becoming go-to health resource for mom

5/8/2015

SAN FRANCISCO - Mobile health is booming and today's mom is a big part of that, noted Lara Loveman, director of business strategy at mscripts, in a blog posted Thursday. "When it comes to family, health matters. And women are taking the lead," she wrote. "We’ve got some new data that shows just how much moms do in maintaining healthy households."

Since 2011, there has been a 54% increase in moms using their mobile devices for health-related activities, Loveman noted. And women are 2.8 times more likely to manage a child's health on a mobile platform. "In a world of parenthood, smartphones are an extension of a mother’s helping hand. Savvy moms are taking mHealth tools and adapting them to their daily lives," she said.

According to mscripts research, of the moms caring for someone, 89% are caring for a child; 10% are caring for other adults and 1% are caring for their parents.
