Novartis Consumer launches My Migraine Triggers app

11/14/2012

PARSIPPANY, N.J. — Novartis Consumer Health on Wednesday announced the development of a convenient migraine trigger tracking tool, My Migraine Triggers App, with a neurologist. The company also partnered with Jordin Sparks, singer, actress and Broadway performer, and Keri Peterson, an internist at Lenox Hill Hospital, on the launch of "Managing Migraines: Know Your Triggers. Know Your Treatment," an educational campaign to raise awareness around the importance of knowing individual migraine triggers.

The campaign is designed to raise awareness of the importance of tracking migraine triggers so sufferers can better manage their migraines. While certain triggers may increase the risk of a migraine, triggers vary from person to person. According to women surveyed by Novartis, 83% said they would like better tools to help them track the triggers that lead to their migraines so that they can better manage attacks.

"I was shocked to learn that less than half (45%) of female migraine sufferers surveyed regularly share migraine trigger information with their physician," Peterson stated. "The new My Migraine Triggers app has a great feature [that] enables my patients to send me data about their migraines before they even walk into my office, allowing me to create a better treatment plan."

Available for free on iTunes, the app allows migraine sufferers to track the causes of their migraines and share them with their physician. Migraine sufferers can chart out a daily log of information into customizable reports to better understand which activities, foods and beverages are associated with the onset of their headaches.
