Orchid Medical forms strategic relationship with Walgreens on providing DME

11/1/2012

ORLANDO, Fla.  — Orchid Medical, a provider of ancillary healthcare services, has formed a strategic relationship with Walgreens to provide injured workers a convenient, nationwide source for medical supplies while offering significant savings to workers’ compensation payers.

“Adding Walgreens as a network provider is another step in our commitment to creating more cost efficiencies for our customers,” stated Oliver Ostlander, Orchid Medical chief information officer. “The relationship also enables us to extend our market penetration, while bringing another customer service and cost savings program to the workers’ comp industry.”

Under the program, Orchid Medical customers can save shipping and delivery charges for medical supplies prescribed for work-related injuries, such as walking canes, walkers, wheelchairs and other products.

Shipping costs account for 8% of Orchid Medical’s DME billing. Injured workers serviced through Orchid Medical can go to select Walgreens to obtain their Durable Medical Equipment included under the program, Orchid stated.
