Releev trial highlights efficacy against cold sores
Merix Pharmaceutical, the company behind Releev 1 Day Cold Sore Symptom Treatment, is sharing the outcome of a trial to highlight the product’s efficacy.
The company said that in a double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial, its patented echinacea extract formula — Viracea — was found to be highly active against HSV-1 and HSV-2, healing cold sores in as little as one day.
In addition to Viracea, Releev also contains antimicrobial antiseptic benzalkonium chloride as an active ingredient to help provide fast relief for old sores. The product currently is sold at Walgreens, CVS Pharmacy and Rite Aid stores, and recently expanded into convenience stores with a 7-Eleven launch.
