Scarlett-Smith to head GSK Consumer Healthcare for North America

PITTSBURGH GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare on Tuesday named Roger Scarlett-Smith president, consumer healthcare, North America effective immediately.

Scarlett-Smith succeeds George Quesnelle, who will now hold the position of president, global switch and strategic growth projects. 

Scarlett-Smith previously led the United Kingdom GSK Consumer Healthcare business and home of such brands as Macleans, Aquafresh, Sensodyne, Lucozade and Panadol.  He also held general management roles in Australia and New Zealand, and global marketing roles with the analgesics, respiratory and dermatology businesses within GSK Consumer Healthcare. 

Between 1993 – 1996, Scarlett-Smith worked in the North American business, based in Pittsburgh, as vice president, marketing for oral healthcare and cough & cold. 

In his new role, Quesnelle will lead the development of major global growth projects, including Rx-to-over-the-counter switches and the creation of a long-term switch pipeline. Quesnelle spearheaded the switch and launch of alli and the successful acquisition and integration of the Breathe Right and FiberChoice brands.  Quesnelle will continue to be based in Pittsburgh.
