Advancements in diabetes care range from technology that makes glucose monitoring easier to improving such products as needles.
Based in Basel, Switzerland, Ascensia Diabetes Care is a global company that was established in 2016 through the acquisition of Bayer Diabetes Care by Panasonic Healthcare Holdings. The company is known for the Contour range of blood glucose monitoring systems, and the new Contour Diabetes app that uses data from the meter to alert the user of suboptimal patterns in the blood glucose readings.
Franklin Lakes, N.J.-based BD Diabetes Care offers innovative pen needles, insulin syringes and other products designed to enable people, who are living with diabetes ,to benefit from comfortable, effective diabetes care. Among the newest products is the BD Ultra-Fine micro pen needle 6 mm x 32 g for use with leading pen injection devices. The company said that people with diabetes typically inject insulin one or more times per day into the subcutaneous fat of their abdomen, thigh, upper arm or buttocks. With shorter needles, people with diabetes are less likely to accidentally inject their insulin dose into a muscle.
