Advancements in diabetes care range from technology that makes glucose monitoring easier to improving such products as needles.

The company is known for the Contour range of blood glucose monitoring systems, and the new Contour Diabetes app that uses data from the meter to alert the user of suboptimal patterns in the blood glucose readings.

Among the newest products is the BD Ultra-Fine micro pen needle 6 mm x 32 g for use with leading pen injection devices. The company said that people with diabetes typically inject insulin one or more times per day into the subcutaneous fat of their abdomen, thigh, upper arm or buttocks. With shorter needles, people with diabetes are less likely to accidentally inject their insulin dose into a muscle.
