Use of social media tools by 'Life...supplemented' aids Vitamin Angels partnership
WASHINGTON The Council for Responsible Nutrition Foundation’s “Life…supplemented” campaign donated $10,000 to Vitamin Angels, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing micronutrients to children in need around the world, CRN announced Tuesday.
As part of the “Life…supplemented” campaign’s America’s Wellness Challenge Sweepstakes, CRN donated $1.00 for the first 10,000 consumers who took the free online wellness tool My Wellness Scorecard during the sweepstakes period.
“I would like to thank the ‘Life…supplemented’ campaign for helping Vitamin Angels to reach children all over the world and giving them a chance for a healthier life,” stated Vitamin Angels founder and president Howard Schiffer.
The “Life…supplemented” campaign built buzz around America’s Wellness Challenge by reaching health-conscious consumers through a variety of social media channels including Twitter under wannaBwell, updates on its Facebook page, and through the campaign’s Web site. Guiding the campaign’s social media initiative was the “Life…supplemented” Social Media Advisory Board, a group of seven influential bloggers with an interest in wellness issues: Andrea Metcalf, Fit Today; Cascia Talbert, Healthy Moms; Christine Peterson, Foresight; Danielle Omar, Food Confidence; Jenn Fowler, Frugal Upstate; Liz Scherer, Flashfree; and Sheryl Kraft, HealthyWomen.org.
“The support we received from the 'Life…supplemented' Social Media Advisory Board in spreading the word about our efforts to raise money for Vitamin Angels was absolutely essential,” stated Judy Blatman, SVP communications for CRN Foundation. “Thanks to these social media gurus and their followers, readers and on-line social communities, we reached our donation goal in less than six weeks. … This kind of effort is a testament to the power and possibilities of social media.”
