DEERFIELD, Ill. — Walgreens and the United Nations Foundation on Thursday kicked off the fifth year of the Get a Shot. Give a Shot. campaign. The campaign has helped to provide more than 20 million polio and measles vaccines to people in developing countries.
Now through Aug. 31, 2018, for every vaccination administered at Walgreens pharmacies, Healthcare Clinics or Duane Reade pharmacies, Walgreens will donate the value of a lifesaving vaccine through the UN Foundation’s Shot@Life campaign.
“We are thrilled to be heading into our fifth year of partnership with Walgreens and the Get a Shot. Give a Shot program,” stated Kathy Calvin, president and CEO of the United Nations Foundation. “Families everywhere deserve the opportunity to keep their children safe from preventable diseases like measles and polio, and thanks to this program, Walgreens customers can help support the Shot@Life campaign and ensure every child has a shot at a healthy life.”
Flu shots are now available across all Walgreens banners during all pharmacy and clinic hours while an immunizing health professional is on duty, including evenings, overnights at 24-hour pharmacy locations, weekends and holidays, and no appointment is necessary. “Each flu season is unpredictable, which is why a flu shot is the most important preventive measure to take to protect yourself and those around you throughout the flu season,” suggested Richard Ashworth, Walgreens president of pharmacy and retail operations.
