Walgreens Flu Index logs big gains in Mississippi

2/13/2019
It’s not a great time to be in Mississippi based on the latest week of data from the Walgreens Flu Index. The state topped both the list of states with overall activity, as well as the list of states with the most flu activity gains for the week ended Feb. 9. Cities in Mississippi also topped the lists of markets with overall activity and those with flu activity gains — with Mississippi markets claiming the top three spots of gaining markets.

Also seeing high overall flu activity were Alabama, Oklahoma, Texas and Tennessee. Alabama also was among states that saw flu activity gains, coming in at No. 2, followed by North Carolina, Louisiana and Oklahoma. The Walgreens Flu Index bases its rankings on chainwide retail prescription data for antiviral flu meds.
