Walgreens kicks off 2016/2017 influenza season, announces flu shot availability

DEERFIELD, Ill. - Walgreens is now offering flu shots at all of its pharmacies, including Duane Reade pharmacies in New York, and at all Walgreens Healthcare Clinic locations, the  company announced Monday.

“For more than a decade, Walgreens pharmacists and Healthcare Clinic nurse practitioners have been a trusted and accessible community resource for flu shots and other immunizations,” stated Richard Ashworth, Walgreens president of pharmacy and retail operations. “Every flu season is unpredictable, which is why an annual flu shot is the first and most important preventive measure to take to protect yourself and those around you throughout the season.”

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends an annual flu shot for everyone over the age of 6 months as soon as the vaccine becomes available.
