With holiday travel approaching and flu activity on the rise in many parts of the country, Walgreens today launched its first flu index for the 2018-2019 flu season.
The Walgreens Flu Index, now in its fifth season, is a weekly report ranking the top markets and states for flu activity in the United States, including Puerto Rico.
The weekly report also ranks the top markets and states showing the largest increases in activity week over week, the company said.
The Walgreens Flu Index is compiled using the drug store chain’s retail prescription data for antiviral medications used to treat influenza across thousands of Walgreens and Duane Reade locations nationwide.
The index serves as an important reminder to take such preventive measures as receiving a flu shot to stay healthy throughout the flu season.
