Papyrus, Thoughtful Human launch greeting card collaboration

11/7/2019

Papyrus has new collaboration on its horizon.

The company has partnered with Thoughtful Human, a zero-waste greeting company out of Oakland, Calif., on a new collection of cards that bring awareness, dialogue and support for many of life’s issues that are often avoided or remain stigmatized.

Such topics touched on by the cards will include cancer, grief, depression, addiction, strained relationships and other physical and mental health issues, the companies said.

“Losing a loved one to cancer can be such a devastating and life-changing experience. I never truly understood the depths of grief and heartache until I lost my beloved husband to pancreatic cancer. The sense of loss and the overwhelming sadness is hard to explain or understand and during this time I have struggled to know how to best connect with others in my life,” Papyrus owner, Dominique Schurman said. “Meeting Ali and learning about Thoughtful Human has been truly inspiring, and I am so hopeful that together we can build a movement that will bring awareness to these issues and that will help to support people in a special way as they are going through challenging times.”

Each each card part of the collaboration is plastic-free and printed on seed paper that can be planted to grow wildflowers.

“It is truly a dream come true to be able to bring this program to life with Papyrus and show their community that they are not alone in the challenges they are facing this holiday,” Thoughtful Human founder, Ali O’Grady, said “Having Papyrus put these type of subjects front and center speaks so much to the shift in the market and culture today — people are ready to move beyond the greetings and start talking about the tough stuff. Cards aren’t going to solve complex health and mental health issues, but actively reaching out, asking the hard questions, and creating the space for real conversations — it’s where we can all begin.”

In addition, the Thoughtful Human program in stores will offer education around community resources for patients, supporters and caregivers, as well as a giveback campaign that will contribute 10% of sales on select cards to pancreatic cancer by the American Cancer Society.

Shoppers can find the 80 unique cards at more than 160 Papyrus retail stores throughout the nation and on the company’s website.
