Rite Aid Healthy Futures adds three new board members

Rite Aid Healthy Futures, a public charity dedicated to driving change in communities, with emphasis on underserved neighborhoods, focusing on the areas of health, wellness, race and equity, has added three new members to its charity board of directors, all of whom are key company leaders for the Rite Aid Corporation and Elixir, the company’s pharmacy benefits manager.

Andre Persaud, chief retail officer at Rite Aid, along with Elixir executives Susan Thomas, senior vice president of growth and retention; and Chris DuPaul, chief operating officer, are the latest appointments to the board. Their additions will pave the way for new perspectives and neighborhood engagement for Healthy Futures, a public charity focused on advancing racial and health equity in Rite Aid communities, the organization said.

“Both the board and charity staff are energized by the addition of these new members, all of whom have fantastic experience in their industries and a true passion for our mission,” said Jessica Kazmaier, president of the Rite Aid Healthy Futures board and chief human resources officer for Rite Aid. “As Rite Aid Healthy Futures continues its efforts to drive change in underserved communities, we remain committed to growing our practices of good governance and organizational excellence. We look forward to working with our new board members as we continue on our journey to becoming a best-in-class charity.”

Kinney Drugs names new VP of merchandising and supply chain  

Kinney Drugs has announced James Clapp as the new vice president of merchandising and supply chain. Clapp comes to Kinney Drugs with decades of experience in sales, merchandising, distribution and procurement, the company said.

Most recently, Clapp had leadership roles with Brookshire Grocery in Tyler, Texas and Rouse’s  Markets in Thibodaux, La. Before that, Clapp spent 25 years with SpartanNash, headquartered in Grand Rapids, Mich., where his very first job was bagging groceries.

“Jim is an innovator in merchandising and supply chain efforts, and has a wealth of consumer retail  experience,” said John  Marraffa, president of Kinney Drugs. “We are very pleased to welcome him to the Kinney family.”

Marcy Kroeger joins Crossmark as director of customer development

Crossmark has named Marcy Kroeger, former Walgreens senior management, as the company’s new director of customer development for the Walgreens team. In this integral business development role at Crossmark, Kroeger will create impactful sales-driving initiatives for Crossmark’s vendor partners at Walgreens, the company said.

The company said Kroeger’s extensive history with Walgreens spans a variety of roles that directly resulted in revenue generation. Most recently, she worked as Walgreens’ senior category manager of prestige beauty, implementing and expanding beauty manager education programs for sun care and prestige skin care brands. Her experience also includes successfully launching several brands for Walgreens, including Native, Harry’s, and Dollar Shave Club, and expanding the W.I.C. program to additional stores.

“I’m thrilled to have Marcy join the Crossmark team,” said Kristen Abreu, vice president of customer development for the drug channel. “Marcy’s deep knowledge of all areas of Walgreens, from supply chain to analytics to category management, is second to none. Her professionalism, leadership and strategic planning will enable Crossmark to continue to provide best in class sales and collaborative planning, forecasting and replenishment support to our vendor partners at Walgreens.”

Jan Ernst de Groot appointed chief sustainability officer of Ahold Delhaize

Ahold Delhaize has appointed Jan Ernst de Groot as chief sustainability officer. In this newly created role, he will be accountable for the success of Ahold Delhaize’s integral vision, strategy and goals relative to all aspects of environmental sustainability, healthy eating, social impact, ethics, human rights and governance.

“For a long time, sustainability has had a central position in our organization,” said Frans Muller, CEO of Ahold Delhaize. “It is one of our four key strategic focus areas, and a critical driver of our purpose: Eat well. Save time. Live better. Our activity and performance in this area are attracting increasing interest from customers, (future) associates, investors and other stakeholders. With the appointment of Jan Ernst, we ensure that the full scope and dimension of sustainability and ESG are holistically represented at the executive committee level.”

CandyRific names new directors in national accounts and western region

CandyRific has announced the appointment of two new directors, Matt Cameron and Kim Trask, to join its management team for the candy and novelty products company. 

Named national accounts sales director, Cameron comes to CandyRific with over 20 years of experience in selling, buying, and managing CPG and confection products.

Trask, who joins as western region sales director, comes to CandyRific with more than 25 years of experience in the consumables industry, with a variety of sales, marketing and management expertise.

“All of Matt’s and Kim’s sales, marketing and management experience, as well as their time on a broker desk, will be great assets to the future growth of CandyRific,” said Clark Taylor, senior vice president of sales and marketing at CandyRific.
