P&G promotes Turner to president of North American sales

Procter & Gamble has promoted a longtime executive to president of North American sales. Monica Turner, who has been with P&G since 1987, moved into the role effective Sept. 1 from her previous position of executive vice president and head of sales for North America.

In her new position, Turner reports to Carolyn Tastad, group president of North America. The role will see Turner leading sales for the CPG company’s largest region in terms of sales and profit. The company noted that her leadership throughout the COVID-19 pandemic has helped deliver record-setting sales performance in its most recent fiscal year.

Turner began her P&G career as a sales representative for paper products, working her way up through various account management and customer team director positions, including for such retailers as Delhaize and Family Dollar. In 2010 she was named vice president of U.S. market strategy and planning, then promoted to vice president of sales for club and home hardware North America in 2013. In 2017 she was named vice president of sales for market strategy and planning for beauty care and health and grooming North America. Her role of head of sales began in 2019, and she quickly moved from senior vice president to executive vice president before earning her current title.

In addition to Turner’s promotion, P&G also reported the addition of Debra Lee to its board of directors. Lee, whose board membership was effective Aug. 12, is the former chairman and CEO of BET Networks. P&G noted that with Lee’s appointment, half of its independent directors are women.
