Independent pharmacy veteran Bruce Kneeland is once again hitting the open road on an extensive pharmacy road trip. This year's trip, dubbed “Four Savvy Southern Pharmacies,” will include on-site visits and interviews with the owners of pharmacies in four southern states: Texas, Arkansas, Tennessee and South Carolina.

Liberty Software, is sponsoring the trip.

The key takeaway will be the production and distribution of a white paper that Kneeland will produce. The document will outline, in a step-by-step manner, the management tools and marketing techniques the four pharmacies use to successfully implement one or more of the enhanced care services their pharmacies provide.

Kneeland will look at how these four pharmacies chose a specific enhanced care service to provide and how they got their staff to buy into providing the new service. He also will look for ways the pharmacies use features in their Liberty Software system to support these new services.

One of Liberty’s newest features is an appointment scheduler with features that help them manage their immunization program, interact with state immunization registries, automate billing procedures and auto-populate eCare plans.

The pharmacies Kneeland will visit provide a cross-section of independent pharmacies. One is in a major metropolitan area, another in a suburban location and two are in rural towns. Two are clinically focused and the others have more traditional front-ends. One even has an old fashion soda fountain.

The four pharmacies to be visited are Flower Mound Pharmacy in Flower Mound, Texas; Caldwell Pharmacy in Wynne, Ark.; Kirby Whitten Pharmacy in Bartlett, Tenn.; and Roche Pharmacy in Whitmire, S.C.

Kneeland noted that the white paper will be designed to provide pharmacy owners with a road map that will outline specific steps pharmacy owners can take to replicate the success of the four pharmacies he visits on the trip. When completed, the white paper will be made available, free of charge, to any pharmacy owner requesting it from Liberty Software.
