American Regent launches preservative-free generic Makena
American Regent has introduced its generic Makena, which it said is the only preservative-free generic of drug, hydroxyprogesterone caproate injection, available. The drug is indicated to reduce the risk of preterm birth in women with a singleton pregnancy and a history of singleton spontaneous preterm birth.
“The approval of this preservative-free generic alternative represents our commitment to ensuring both patients and providers have access to additional, affordable treatment options for this women's health concern,” said Ken Keller, president and CEO of Shirley, N.J.-based American Regent.
The product will be available in 1 ml preservative-free single-dose vials in a dosage strength of 250 mg/ml.
