Amneal CEO to deliver commencement speech

BROOKVILLE, N.Y. — Chintu Patel, CEO of Amneal Pharmaceuticals, will be the featured keynote speaker at LIU’s Arnold and Marie Schwartz College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences commencement ceremony on May 7 at the Tilles Center for the Performing Arts on the LIU Post campus at 10 a.m.

Chintu Patel has spent his career developing superior and affordable medicines to benefit people around the world through research and development. He has more than 20 years of distinguished experience within the industry, starting his career in Eckerd Pharmacy. He has been recognized by his peers on numerous occasions, including the 2011 Ernst & Young National Entrepreneur of the Year Life Sciences Award.

  

“LIU Pharmacy’s vision to advance the safety, efficacy and efficiency of the industry and the evolution of its professionals makes it a perfect fit for Mr. Patel, a leader in the pharmaceutical industry,” said Dr. John M. Pezzuto, dean of LIU Pharmacy. “We aim to work with leaders like Mr. Patel to create transformational opportunities for our students and faculty to do impactful all over the globe.”

 

The ceremony will also recognize LIU Pharmacy alum Ian Jay Ginsberg, Class of 1985, current President of C.O. Bigelow Apothecaries and Bigelow Trading, Ltd, with an honorary degree.

 

The graduating class of 2017 includes an estimated 104 PhD and Masters of Science students and 177 students set to graduate with Doctor of Pharmacy degrees. Since the very first graduating class of 1892, medals have been awarded to those students having achieved superior academic standing, with the three highest grade point averages. This year’s gold medal will go to Mitulkumar Patel, the silver medal to Daria Zavgorodnyaya, and the bronze to Debra Willner.
