APhA CEO honored by the University of Charleston

WASHINGTON The CEO of an organization representing more than 62,000 practicing pharmacists, pharmaceutical scientists, student pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and others interested in advancing the profession, has been awarded an honorary doctor of science degree.

Thomas Menighan of the American Pharmacists Association was recognized by the University of Charleston in West Virginia for his entrepreneurial approach to the business of pharmacy and his career success in the pharmacy profession, APhA said.

"It was an honor to be invited to be a part of such an historic event," said Menighan, APhA CEO, EVP and honorary degree recipient. "These students represent some of the best and the brightest, who will take profession of pharmacy into the future by providing services such as medication therapy management and immunizations and will help with advances in health care with their knowledge of pharmacy technology and areas such as pharmacogenomics."

A native of West Virginia, Menighan received his bachelor of science in pharmacy from West Virginia University school of pharmacy and an MBA in 1990 from Averett College.
