11/18/2008

ALEXANDRIA, Va. The American Society of Consultant Pharmacists announced Tuesday that it had launched a program to raise awareness about medication-related problems among the elderly.

ASCP said the program, Campaign 2011, is designed to educate elderly people, healthcare professionals and the general public about dangers that can arise when patients use medications improperly or overuse them.

The organization said it would also promote cost-effective approaches to medication therapy management and work to increase the number of pharmacists trained to meet the needs of the elderly.
