Aurobindo Pharma gets FDA approval for generic Cozaar

WASHINGTON The Food and Drug Administration has granted approval to Aurobindo Pharma to manufacture and market losartan potassium tablets in 25 mg, 50 mg and 100 mg strengths, according to FDA documents.

The tablets are for treating hypertension and are a generic version of Merck’s Cozaar, which had global sales of $3.35 billion in 2007, according to Merck financial data.

Aurobindo said in a statement Tuesday that this was its 75th FDA approval.
