Cancer survey shows cancer patients refusing treatment because of costs
NEW YORK An analysis by Thomson Reuters has found that one-in-four patients in the advanced stages of cancer who made less than $40,000 a year refused treatment because of the cost.
The analysis, based on an online questionnaire of 1,767 people, found that 12 percent of late-stage colon cancer patients paid more than $25,000 out of pocket.
The survey isn’t considered scientific, but according to USA Today, the results are similar to a 2006 study published in the journal Cancer.
