CARES by GSK aids patients with limited insurance coverage

2/10/2010

PHILADELPHIA Patients with limited insurance coverage will have increased access to cancer and specialty drugs under a program created by GlaxoSmithKline, the British drug maker said Wednesday.

The company described CARES by GSK as a comprehensive program to provide co-pay assistance and a single point of contact for patients to consult with health insurance counselors. The counselors can verify patients’ benefits, analyze coverage, research and forecast co-pay rates and help patients find assistance.

“It is becoming more and more difficult for patients and their providers to navigate today’s complex healthcare system,” GSK VP David Moules said in a statement. “Through CARES by GSK, we wanted to be part of a solution that for the first time streamlines access to the many services we offer, including a new co-pay assistance program, so that patients can easily access the medicines that may help them.”
