CVS/pharmacy supports fundraising for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital
WOONSOCKET, R.I. CVS/pharmacy has announced that it will be raising funds for the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital Thanks and Giving Campaign to support an expanded rehabilitation services center to open in 2009.
The campaign, which is in its fifth year, will run nationwide in CVS/pharmacy locations through Dec. 13. To raise funds, store associates will encourage customers to add $1 to their purchase at the register to support St. Jude, which researches and treats pediatric cancer and other childhood diseases. In its first four years of the campaign, CVS/pharmacy and its customers raised nearly $8 million for the hospital.
Funds raised will support the CVS Caremark All Kids Can Rehabilitation Services Center at St. Jude. The new facility, which is expected to open in the summer of 2009, will double the current space dedicated to providing audiology, occupational therapy, physical therapy and speech-language pathology services to St. Jude patients.
“We are thrilled to help the children and families served by St. Jude,” said Eileen Howard Dunn, senior vice president of corporate communications at community relations for CVS Caremark. “Through play, exercise and education, children participating in the CVS Caremark All Kids Can Rehabilitation Services Center at St. Jude will be able to break through barriers in order to lead a healthy, happy life after treatment.”
