Diovan approved by FDA for expanded age group

WASHINGTON Diovan was recently approved for treating pediatric hypertension in 6 to 16 year old patients. The approval was a for a supplemental new drug application, approved by the Division of Cardiovascular and Renal Products.

Diovan is used to treat high blood pressure. For the first nine months of 2007, Diovan had sales of $3.7 billion for its manufacturer Novartis.
