DSN taps pharmacy education pro Nancy Lyons to lead CE, clinical content development

12/8/2014

NEW YORK — Drug Store News has named Nancy Lyons director of continuing education and clinical content. Lyons will be responsible for the growth and development of DSN’s Continuing Education platform, and driving cutting-edge clinical content, education and training programs for community pharmacists.

Lyons joined Drug Store News from Roche Diabetes Care where she served most recently as scientific advisor, global medical and scientific affairs, responsible for developing a national clinical study protocol and health care professional education pieces to support clinical programs initiatives.

Prior to that, Lyons spent 18 years at Albertson’s/Supervalu working in a variety of clinical programs leadership roles, including, most recently, as manager of clinical training and new program development, working to develop educational content, CE programs and training needs for more than 800 of the company’s stores, including more than 2,400 pharmacists and more than 6,000 pharmacy technicians.

“I am extremely excited about the opportunity at Drug Store News,” Lyons said. “I have spent much of my career focused on delivering meaningful education for patients and community pharmacy teams. In this role, I’m hoping to have a much broader reach to bring the needed clinical content to those who can best use the information to impact patient care.”

“DSN is very happy to have Nancy join to lead our Continuing Education platform,” noted Drug Store News publisher Wayne Bennett. “She brings a diverse background of retail pharmacy experience, clinical training and business acumen to this role at a time when DSN is about a launch a significant upgrade to its existing CE and clinical content programs.”

Lyons holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Pharmacy from Butler University and an MBA from Keller Graduate School of Management. Additionally, she is a Certified Diabetes Educator, and also holds professional memberships with the American Pharmacists Association, the American Association of Diabetes Educators, the European Association for the Study of Diabetes and the American Diabetes Association.

Lyons will be based in the Indianapolis area.
