DSN, VaxServe launch immunization resource site for pharm techs

As pharmacist-provided clinical services continue to expand, the role of the technician also is expanding. Immunization delivery is now an expected offering in most community pharmacies. To support the additional responsibilities of the technician, Drug Store News has partnered with VaxServe to develop a set of immunization resources specifically for pharmacy technicians.

The primary goal of the new DSN Immunization Tools for Technicians site is to empower technicians to take a proactive role in supporting pharmacy-based immunization delivery services and ultimately the patients who benefit from preventive care provided by pharmacists. Pharmacy technicians can play a critical role in ensuring adherence to immunization policies and procedures, ordering and maintaining supplies and vaccines, increasing awareness of the need and availability of immunizations, and referring patients for counseling and immunization administration sessions with the pharmacist.

Resources, which will be updated frequently, currently include four free Quick Credit CPE lessons:
