NEW YORK Duane Reade Holdings announced on Monday the appointment of Joseph Magnacca and Mark Scharbo as senior vice presidents on the company’s senior management team.

Scharbo, the company announced, will join Duane Reade the first Monday of October as senior vice president of supply chain. Pending anticipated U.S. visa approval, Magnacca will be installed as chief merchandising officer.

He most recently served as executive vice president of Merchandising and Category Management. He graduated from Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo, Ontario.

Scharbo has been the Chief Operating Officer of Cumming, Ga.-based Case-Mate, a provider of leather accessories for cell phones and other digital devices that he co-founded in 2005. Prior to founding Case-Mate, he operated as an independent consultant, leading significant strategic initiative projects for a PBM/mail service pharmacy and a national casual restaurant chain. Scharbo was previously an associate partner with Accenture. He graduated from the Georgia Institute of Technology at Georgia Tech.

“We are delighted that these two seasoned executives decided to join our senior management team,” stated John Lederer, Duane Reade chairman and chief executive officer. “As we continue to fine-tune our plans to elevate Duane Reade to the next level, we are keenly focused on refining our merchandise mix and strengthening our infrastructure to support growth going forward. We believe that the addition of Joe and Mark will help us drive improvements in these important areas and add breadth and depth to our management team that will help us advance our business.”
