Duquesne University’s pharmacy school to open off-campus pharmacy

5/5/2010

PITTSBURGH The first off-campus community pharmacy designed and operated by a university school of pharmacy soon will open in Pittsburgh.

Duquesne University’s Mylan School of Pharmacy will open the $600,000 pharmacy in the city’s Hill District later this year. The staff will include a director, licensed pharmacists, Duquesne pharmacy school faculty and student pharmacists and will offer prescription drugs, private patient consultation, health-and-wellness education, medication therapy management services and health risk assessments.

“Responding to the needs of others, particularly the underserved, is at the hart of Duquesne’s mission,” Duquesne University president Charles Dougherty said. “This effort provides accessible, affordable health and education services designed to improve the health and well-being of Pittsburgh residents.”
