FLINT, Mich. — EnvoyHealth, a Diplomat company, has teamed up with Compliance Meds Technologies to pilot a medication adherence program for CleverCap Lite.
CleverCap LITE offers medication monitoring and control for patients and providers. The compact, high-tech bottle cover:
Records date and time of bottle access.
Records if a medication bottle isn’t properly reclosed.
Works with bottles or liquid vials.
Features visual and audio reminders, as well as a silent option.
“One of the largest problems in health care is nonadherence to prescription medication,” said Jenny Cretu, SVP of pharma services and marketing. “Piloting technologies like CleverCap is key to long-term patient engagement and can help us understand crucial data and improve patient care and outcomes.”
According to the American Heart Association, medication nonadherence causes 125,000 Americans deaths annually and costs the U.S. healthcare system nearly $300 billion per year in doctor visits, emergency department visits and hospitalizations. Not adhering to a medication regimen with respect to timing, dosage or duration can interfere with a patient’s ability to treat and manage a disease, leading to a greater risk for complications and a lower quality of life.
“We are very excited about the partnership with Diplomat and EnvoyHealth,” said Moses Zonana, founder and CEO of CMT. “Our platform and engagement technology provides an ideal foundation for integrated medication management programs; our combined strengths set a new standard for outpatient medication management. With CMT, patients can be engaged when necessary, providing intelligent touch points and a better allocation of resources.”
