FDA approves Banner's application for generic Symmetrel

HIGH POINT, N.C. Banner Pharmacaps announced June 2 that the Food and Drug Administration had approved its application for generic amantadine hydrochloride USP 100mg gelatin capsules four days before.

Amantadine (Symmetrel) is designed to prevent and treat signs and symptoms of respiratory tract infections resulting from various strains of influenza A virus. It also treats extra-pyramidal reactions related to Parkinson’s disease and drug reactions.
