Food Lion accepts FSA and HRA cards at checkout

NEW YORK Food Lion has begun accepting Flexible Spending Account and Healthcare Reimbursement Account cards at cash registers.

The cards, which some companies offer employees, allow the deduction of the cost of some pharmacy and health-care items from shoppers’ bills. Items include hydrogen peroxide, anti-smoking aids, antibiotic ointments, asthma mists, contact lenses and prescription co-pays. The Internal Revenue Service determines which items qualify.

Food Lion is a subsidiary of Belgium-based Delhaize Group and operates about 1,300 stores in the South, as well as Delaware, Maryland and Pennsylvania.
