Former Walgreens, WellPoint exec joins Blink Health

5/24/2018
Not long after naming an Express Scripts veteran to lead its strategy, Blink Health on Friday named another longtime industry executive to lead another area of the business. Michael Nameth, most recently CEO of Aureus Health, has joined the New York-based company as executive vice president of cloud and specialty pharmacy.

Nameth’s experience in the industry includes time spent as executive vice president of Walgreens Specialty Pharmacy and president of NextRx, the pharmacy benefit manager of WellPoint, which was acquired by Express Scripts in 2009. He currently serves as director of the National Association of Specialty Pharmacy, which he co-founded.

“Michael’s expertise across all aspects of pharmacy will be invaluable in our efforts to help patients access all therapies their providers prescribe for their health needs,” said Geoffrey Chaiken, co-founder and CEO of Blink Health. “His background makes him the ideal person to build our cloud pharmacy service that will give people more control over their prescriptions and ensure that everyone, regardless of insurance status, gets the lowest prices on their medications.”

Nameth is tasked with spearheading Blink Health’s efforts to provide the lowest possible price to patients on branded, specialty and generic medications, as well as reducing barriers in the process of filling prescriptions.

“For millions of people, branded and specialty medications play an important role in combating disease and improving lives, but they are often too expensive or difficult for patients to access,” Nameth said. “Blink Health’s combination of technology and pharmacy expertise uniquely positions the company to address the high-cost prescription drug crisis, and I’m thrilled to join a team that is solving this problem.”
