CANTON, Miss. — In a move aimed at helping improve access to healthcare in the state, Fred’s is rolling out more TelehealthONE walk-in kiosks to locations across Mississippi. The first TelehealthONE kiosk was launched at a Fred’s location in Flora, Miss. in September 2015, and the next nine will hit the communities of Union, Pelahatchie, Carthage, Morton, Jackson, Pearl, Clinton, Lexington and Terry.
“Our mission is to improve the lives of our patients and customers across the state by providing quality healthcare services, and consumer products that deliver value to the communities we serve,“ Fred’s EVP pharmacy operations Rick Chambers said. “Being a leader in providing flexible options for physician visits is just one step in that process.“
Patients can walk up to a kiosk and be assisted by a pharmacy technician who will help connect with a provider. The kiosks accept all insurance, including Medicare and Medicaid, and kiosk visits will have the same copay as a visit to a doctor’s office.
“If people have access to convenient, affordable and a variety of services under one roof, they are more likely to seek care regularly,” TelehealthONE chairman David Powe said. “That is an easy step to take to lead a healthy and productive lifestyle. There is a Fred’s Pharmacy located within 15 miles of nearly all Mississippi residents, which is why adding our TelehealthONE kiosks will allow even more access to care.”
