Fruth reforms small-town Rx

4/25/2011

Regional player Fruth Pharmacy is re-
energizing its business. “We are entering our 59th year of business and trying to continue to provide that small-town, quality customer service while staying competitive and on the cutting edge with all of the programs that are out there on the pharmacy side,” said Lynne Fruth, chairman and newly appointed Fruth president.

Fruth started a campaign in February whereby patients write in to share why they value their pharmacist, and their comments are featured in print ads and online. So far, the company has received as many as 500 responses.

With regard to pharmacy services, the company is improving medication adherence among
patients, offering medication therapy management via a shared faculty arrangement with West Virginia University, helping patients make lifestyle changes and successfully improve their health via a cardiovascular wellness program, and making a transition from a nursing- and clinic-driven immunization program to an “immunize anytime” concept that likely will feature expanded offerings, explained Craig Kimble, director of pharmacy.
