POWERS LAKE, Wis. — TCGRx and Ahold USA’s Giant Carlisle banner on Tuesday shared details of a center-store pharmacy pilot the two companies worked on, using TCGRx’s Beacon Inventory Management System. The two initially piloted a center-store pharmacy in Selinsgrove, Penn. and will implement the Beacon-driven solution in its York, Penn. store in the fall with plans to evaluate other pharmacies in the division where the concept can be piloted.
The Beacon solution integrates with Giant Carlisle’s existing pharmacy information system, and is aimed at increasing efficiencies around inventory management and customer pickup.
“The efficiencies gained through the Beacon implementation expedites workflow, saving time for customers,” Ahold USA senior manager of pharmacy technology Luke Barnes said. “The TCGRx solution is really slick looking and provides a great solution to house inventory. … The TCGRx team has been great throughout the sales and implementation process.”
The system allows pharmacies to store hundreds of bags in a way that takes up less space and it maintains a perpetual inventory, as well as real-time medication usage analysis.
“We feel Beacon is ideally suited to Ahold USA’s goal of storing medications more efficiently in support its new center-store pharmacy,” TCGRx president and CEO Duane Chudy said.
