WAUKESHA, Wis. — Dave Wendland, VP and member of the owners group at Hamacher Resource Group, will present, “Understanding Independent Pharmacy Shoppers,” at the QS/1 Customer Conference on May 15th.
The presentation, schedule for 10:30 a.m. EDT, is part of the Retail track at the conference, and will touch on changes affecting consumer healthcare at retail and pharmacist and patient interactions. Wendland will also review the five segments of independent pharmacy shoppers, differences in their shopping habits, and how to target them.
The information shared will include findings from the two most recent research studies HRG completed for the Healthcare Distribution Management Association. "Pharmacist and Patient Conversations at Independent Pharmacy: Recommending and Guiding Non-prescription Product Choices" was released in February of this year, and includes information about the types of conversations independent pharmacists are having with their patients, as well as how often they are recommending OTC solutions, and whether the placement of those items affects how often they are recommended.
The shopper segments and habits of independent pharmacy shoppers are drawn from the 2013 report, "Independent Pharmacy Shoppers: Who, What, and Why?"
“Having both of these sets of data helps to paint a more complete picture of the shopping experience within independent pharmacies. With both the pharmacists’ and patients’ perspectives, and having examined interactions in the front-of-store and at the pharmacy counter, we can identify several best practices for success,” Wendland stated.
