SUN PRAIRIE, Wis. — Independent Pharmacy Cooperative on Tuesday announced the recipients of their 2017 student scholarshps. Eight pharmacy student winners were awarded a $1,500 scholarship, with matching funds from McKesson.
"We must be proactive in supporting the next generation of independent pharmacists," stated Don Anderson, IPC president and CEO. "IPC is proud to encourage the career growth and development of these exceptional future pharmacists."
Winning scholarships were given based on an essay competition regarding their most memorable IPC conference experiences.
"The students who attended the IPC Independent Pharmacy Conference when home with valuable knowledge and experiences," commented Rex Catton, SVP independent national accounts, McKesson.
The winners included:
Gabriella Amato, Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences;
Melinda Chappell, Univeristy of New Mexico College of Pharmacy;
Morgan Krause, University of Toledo College of Pharmacy;
Aaron McDonough, University of Iowa College of Pharmacy;
Vivian Phan, Midwestern University College of Pharmacy;
Yazmin Quijano-Gonzalez, Universtiy of New Mexico Colege of Pharmacy;
April Sartin, Universtiy of New Mexico Colege of Pharmacy; and
Stephanie Sun, University of North Carolina Eshelman School of Pharmacy.
IPC awarded nearly $115,000 in support of future community pharmacists since 2011, with 74 scholarships distributed.
